How hard are they

Every board here was graded by the reasoning it actually needs, and a solver walked each one to the end before it was kept. None of them needs a guess, and none of them needs a rule you have not been told.

• 8 × 840, to start onthe moves you can see at a glance and nothing more — a pair, a gap, a line with all of one digit — on the two long diagonals as well as the rows and columns. No board in this file can be finished without its diagonals.
• 10 × 1088the same, and two to six times a whole line read at once — a row, a column or a diagonal held against every way it could still be filled.
• 12 × 1272, at the backnothing you have not met on the 10 × 10s, only more of it: a whole line read six to fifteen times.
