Slow Squares

Five letters

The day’s word, letter by letter.

A word game of the kind everybody knows by now — five letters, and tiles that colour after every guess to show how close it came — with one difference: the guesses are not rationed. Six rows is only the size of the page; fill them and the board rolls on. So the day’s word cannot be lost, only found or put down.

One word a day, the same for everybody, in the language you are reading the site in. No timer and no account needed: a board left half-done waits for you until the day turns, at midnight UTC — and the share at the end carries every row you played without giving the word away.

How to play

Guess the day’s five-letter word. There is no limit on tries.

Every guess must be a real word; after each one the tiles show how close you came.

When the six rows fill, the board asks whether to keep going: your last guess moves up to the top and five fresh rows open under it.

Share it at the end and every row you played goes with it, all of them together.

C stands in the right spot, A is in the word but somewhere else, and R, N and E aren’t in it at all.
