Printable Sinking Leaves puzzles

Sinking Leaves is a logic puzzle on a square pond with leaves. The frog must visit every leaf exactly once and end on the leaf with the flower, jumping straight up, down, left or right, from leaf to leaf, as far as it likes. A leaf sinks as soon as the frog jumps off it; the frog may fly over water and over a sunken leaf, but never over a leaf still afloat.

Every day there is a new board in each of three sizes, dealt to everybody alike and solvable without a single guess. Pick a size, print the sheet, and take it wherever a screen would not go. On paper the route is drawn in pencil: each jump is a line from leaf to leaf, and a number written on a leaf says when the frog visits it — the easiest way to see which leaves have already sunk.

Today’s sheets

A4, black and white, one puzzle a sheet, with how to play on the last page. No sign-up, nothing to fill in.

A new set every day at midnight UTC.

How to play

The frog sits on its leaf. Find its route: the frog visits every leaf exactly once and ends on the leaf with the flower.

Every jump goes straight up, down, left or right, from leaf to leaf, and can be any length.

A leaf sinks as soon as the frog jumps off it, including the leaf it starts on.

The frog may fly over water and over a sunken leaf, but never over a leaf still afloat. The leaf with the flower floats to the very end, so the frog never flies over it.

Tap a leaf in the frog’s row or column and the frog jumps onto it. Tapping a sunken leaf takes the frog back to that leaf.

With Crosses on, tapping a square puts a cross on it or takes it off. Crosses are your own notes; the game does not check them.

Solved: the numbers on the sunken leaves give the order the frog visited them in, and the frog sits on the leaf with the flower.

Questions people ask

Is it free?
Yes. The sheets, the boards on the site and the archive are free, without an account and without advertising. The PDFs are made once a day and anyone may download them.
How many puzzles are there a day?
One new board a day at each level — 7 × 7, 8 × 8, and 9 × 9 — the same for everybody, dealt at midnight UTC. Earlier days stay downloadable in the archive below.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Every sheet downloads without an account. An account only keeps your online plays and your streak in one place across your devices.
Does every puzzle have exactly one solution?
Yes. Every board is checked to have a single solution and to be solvable by reasoning alone — no guessing is ever needed. The solution is not printed; the sheet holds the puzzle and the rules.
May I hand the sheets out or use them in a classroom?
Yes — print, photocopy and hand them out as you like, for a class, a club or a waiting room. Only leave the credit line at the foot of the sheet where it is.
